Jiro Ono level (totally-missed-the-point-model)

I got too excited and made it a massive restaurant. I love details but took the concept in the wrong direction. #longday #wasntthinking #whatsgoingon #notevenclose
Anways will improve on it soon.

Model 2

Amazing Glass Fibres!

I love the idea of big open spaces where people can see what is happening from the outside in and inside out, hence I'll be using big glass panels for my walls (possibly with a combination of beautifully woven glass fibres to reflect a pattern of sunlight to the inside of the building) :)

Motorbike and oversized sushi!

Here I've added a concrete ground and a table to give it some context. Definitely good to be able to create three dimensional items to put into the final building.

36 textures !!!

Beautiful textures (townhall foodcourt)

I came across this amazing artwork which stretches across the back wall of the food court. Thought I'll pop it on here :)

Terrain + Stairs

Just playing around with the idea of a simple upper, mid and lower ground building in a rocky terrain. Was a bit tricky making it fit with the surroundings but will improve on it :) The stairs I had to scale down a bit (as I was told that each step from my original stairs was like climbing mountains to get to the next tread :/ )

My concept here is that the water flows from the top level (mysteriously from nowhere) down the steps to the mid-lower level where the floor just above it is glass. Hence making it feel like you're walking on water with splendid 360 degree mountain views :) (again with that amount of water it'll need some miraculous engineering to make it hold :) )

PS. I changed the colour of the shirts of the two people standing to red and rice white. Nice aye? :)

Stairs Plus (Stone steps)

As mentioned I love having the idea of stone steps which people can hop over! From the top view you can see that I've extended the floor to lead the person towards these steps. It's an invitation to go down a different path and be more interactive with their surroundings.

Coming down from the first level you admire the waterfall-like feature which starts from the wall leading you down the stairs and opens to a 'pond'. The flow of the stairs guide you towards the stone steps and as you come around you feel the grandness of your surroundings walking pass the progressively tall arched columns which support the stairs.

Zen + Water Feature + Stairs = Sketchup Model :)

I love water features as it's calming and creates a sense of relaxation.
This idea popped up as I was doing the sketchup model. I remember hopping over the stone blocks over in Darling Harbour when I was small and even to this day I see kids doing the same. It's simple yet surprisingly fun idea :)

All things Zen and simple I just love. The triple stepped feature on each tread is inspired by various Zen ornaments I've seen previously. The idea is to have a continuous flow from the top side of the wall into the 'pond' and back up again hidden behind walls. The arched columns in part white add to the sense of simplicity and feeling of lightness.

I'm very proud of these set of stairs and I hope to incorporate it into my final model :)

Stairs concept!

Sloped stairs :) Be careful where you tread as the risers are at a 45 degree slope!

S stairs :) supported by a spine underneath

Inspired by Steel - Breathe
**Renamed Steel - Flow

After discussing the words in relation to the textures I realised it was a bit ironic that 'Breathe' was on the lower level (more like 'Suffocate' would have been a better word lol). Art is all about the process right? :) So time to make a little adjustment. I've replaced the word 'Breathe' with 'Flow'
